Our Evans Center facility is dedicated to helping people with cerebral palsy or other severe physical disabilities. Programming emphasizes fine and gross motor development, vocational, self-care, communication, socialization and community skills working towards increasing independence.
Volunteer options with our clients include assisting in group activities such as:
- Crafts
- Current events
- Cooking
- Planting
- Computer training
We also need volunteers to help us:
- Do dishes and laundry
- Wipe down therapy mats
VOLUNTEER DAYS\HOURS:
Monday thru Friday 9:30am to 2:00pm
SPECIAL TRAINING\SKILLS NECESSARY:
A desire to volunteer in an environment with individuals with disabilities.

EMPLOYMENT SERVICES

COUNTRYSIDE IL
Our Employment Services program assists close to 200 clients through a comprehensive vocational counseling, work training and job placement program. Many clients work in Helping Hand’s own packaging and assembly plant, Subcon Packing & Assembly which contracts with over twenty different packaging and assembly businesses, providing work for our clients and other people from the community. This program is designed to train individuals in work-related issues, such as getting along with co-workers, attention- to-task, work ethics, and hygiene.
VOLUNTEER OPTIONS:
- Provide assistance to the clients on the work floor under the guidance of Employment Services staff.
- Helping clients socialize during their break times.
- Assisting staff in training clients in specific areas such as learning a new job, hygiene, proper socialization.
- Assisting staff in providing weekly peer learning groups, known as Job Clubs.
VOLUNTEER DAYS\HOURS:
Monday thru Friday 9:30 to 3:00
SPECIAL TRAINING\SKILLS NECESSARY:
- Desire to work with individuals with disabilities
- Good communication skills
- Ability to count

HELP PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES HAVE FUN AND LEARN
ADULT DAY SERVICES

COUNTRYSIDE, IL 60525
Helping Hand Adult Day Services offer flexible and creative assistance in the areas of motor development, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, language, social development and personal independence. These goals are accomplished by giving each participant an opportunity to choose groups based on their interests. Some of these groups include cooking, music, arts & crafts, computer sikills, library, living skills, current events, and horticulture.
VOLUNTEER OPTIONS:
• Assisting staff with facilitation of groups or outings.
VOLUNTEER DAYS\HOURS:
Monday thru Friday 9:00am-3:00pm
Tuesday 3:15pm to 6:00pm
Thursday 3:15pm to 6:00pm
Friday 6:00pm to 9:00pm
SPECIAL TRAINING\SKILLS NECESSARY:
- Personable
- Outgoing
- Good communication skills
- Desire to work with individuals with disabilities
