Peer Volunteer
Children and teens have a unique opportunity to become a Peer Volunteer for Helping Hand Center’s School for Children with Autism.
Peer Volunteer Opportunity
Hang out, play games, cook etc. with Helping Hand male and female students with autism in one of the four classrooms:
- Class D – 3-6 year olds
- Class A – 6 -9 year olds
- Class B – 10 -13 year olds
- Class C – (High School) 14 - 22 year old
Age appropriate peers for Class D and A requires they have their own adult supervision.
When Volunteers are Needed
- There are year round opportunities
- 1 - 2 times per week for at least six weeks
- 1 - 2 hours at a time, Monday though Friday, 9:00am - 2:00pm
Requirements for prospective student peer volunteers
- Able to function independently
- 3.0 - 4.0 GPA
- 2 references (not relatives)
- In-person interview (5 - 10 minutes)
- Must have own transportation
