Family Association
Family at the Helping Hand Picnic

Helping Hand was originally started by parents of children with disabilities in 1955. More than 50 years later, the parents and family members of our clients continue the work of making Helping Hand the best that it can be, creating a sense of community among family members, and working alongside staff to achieve our mission of assisting people with disabilities reach their highest aspirations.

Membership in the Helping Hand Family Association is open to any friend or family of someone who receives services at Helping Hand.

We sponsor several events each year, including an agency-wide picnic, an ice cream social and a spring fashion show.

Goals of the Helping Hand Family Association

  • To foster a sense of community among member families by developing regularly scheduled social and informational programming.
  • To give families an opportunity to network and learn from one another in a casual setting.
  • To support the mission and vision of Helping Hand.
