Pediatric Rehabilitation Physician

We offer a monthly pediatric rehabilitation clinic with Dr. Melanie Rak, a pediatric physiatrist from the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Dr. Rak works in collaboration with other clinicians, such as Physical and Occupational Therapists, who work with the child. She provides services to help with spasticity management, bracing, durable medical equipment, wheelchairs and anti-spasticity medications.

Melanie F. Rak, M.D., a staff pediatric physiatrist at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, sees children and adolescents with disabilities. She has a particular interest in spasticity management.

Dr. Rak graduated from Northwestern University Medical School in 1996 and went on to complete a dual-boarded program in Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Cincinnati. She is board certified in both specialties, and has a third board certification in pediatric rehabilitation medicine.

Dr. Rak is a member of the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine, the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation as well as the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has given numerous presentations at various institutions throughout the Chicagoland area and teaches medical students, residents and fellows about caring for children with disabilities.

The Pediatric Physical Medicine Clinic is on Wednesdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Many insurance plans are accepted, in addition to public aid and self-pay arrangements.
